Compass Nova Scotia Applications Open

Compass Nova Scotia is now accepting applications for both the Barton School and Heritage Hall locations.

Compass Nova Scotia Co-operative Homes Ltd. (Compass NS) is a non-profit housing co-operative incorporated under the Co-operative Associations Act in Nova Scotia. Compass NS’s mission is to sustain, build and grow inclusive housing co-operative communities with the vision to be the housing choice for Nova Scotians who want strong governance and credible management in a thriving co-op community.

This application form asks for information about the applicant, co-applicants, and household, defined as:

Applicant – person filling out the application on behalf of the household.
Co-applicant – other adults (19 years or older) that will be living in the housing unit.
Household – includes all the people that will be living in the housing unit including children and dependents.

Barton School Location

Units Available: Four 2-bedroom units, three 1-bedroom units, and one barrier-free 1-bedroom unit.
Expected Occupancy Date: October 1, 2025 (subject to project completion).
Income Limits:
- 1 Bedroom – $62,500.00*
- 2 Bedroom – $73,000.00*
Housing Charges:
- 1 bedroom – $652.00 (500 sqft to 675 sqft)
- 2 bedroom – $749.00 (700 sqft to 765 sqft)
Utilities: Not included.

Heritage Hall Location (28 John St., Shelburne)

Units Available: Two 2-bedroom units, two 1-bedroom units, and one barrier-free 1-bedroom unit.
Expected Occupancy Date: September 1, 2025 (subject to project completion).
Income Limits:
- 1 Bedroom – $62,500.00*
- 2 Bedroom – $73,000.00*
Housing Charges:
- 1 bedroom – $652.00 (524 sqft to 622 sqft)
- 2 bedroom – $749.00 (682 sqft to 697 sqft)
Utilities: Not included.

*The income limits are based on the current Nova Scotia Income Limits.

Smoke-free includes tobacco, vaping, and cannabis.

Credit and Background Check Authorization(Required)

I authorize credit checks, reference checks, and tenant history verification as part of this rental application and for future tenancy assessments.

I/we know that I/we have the right to verify the information about me/us held by credit reporting agencies, that the landlord and its agents are entitled to rely on such credit reports as being correct, and I/we release any claim I/we may have arising from reliance on that information. I/we hereby give irrevocable permission to the Landlord or its agents to obtain at any time a consumer/credit report about me/us, to contact previous landlords to obtain information about my/our previous tenancies, to contact agencies that provide landlord information, to contact my references, and to take any other reasonable steps necessary to assess this rental application or for any amendment or renewal of my/our tenancy.
